Introducing the ‘no blowdry-blowdry’. This super-chic take on undone hair saw locks determinedly dishevelled at Versus Versace’s spring/summer ’18 London Fashion Week show. Curled and teased to perfection by Wella Professionals Global Creative Director and ghd Ambassador, Eugene Souleiman, he created a look as covetable as the collection’s checked two-pieces and chokers.

It was all about shaping the kind of waves you wish your hair naturally tumbled into – think, model off-duty ‘dos with an eminent nod to the nineties. “For this show I wanted to create sexy hair for a night out,” Eugene said of the slightly-rumpled style. “So we put lots of texture into each hair look.”

He set about prepping the hair so it would match each model’s natural movement. “The aim was to enhance its natural texture,” explained Eugene. “But also to break it up at the same time.

“To do this, we used irons or straighteners, depending on the model's natural hair feel and length, taking tiny random sections to add some definition and shape, while giving the appearance that nothing had been done to the hair at all.”

On blunt, usually-polished bobs and lobs, the ghd Platinum Styler was used to twist and tease sections of hair for a little toughened-up texture. EIMI Root Shoot was then sprayed from underneath to lift roots, adding tousled volume.

For longer locks, Eugene custom-blended a conditioning spray using Wella Professionals Elements Lightweight Renewing Conditioner, which was diluted with water. He spritzed it on to add shine and dampen hair down, before dividing lengths into two sections, loosely twisting them around fingers, and drying with the ghd Air Hair Dryer.

Stylists then pinned these tousled sections up, coaxing the hair into a deeper wave. Come show time, the twists were shaken loose to reveal killer, cool-girl curves.

Natural curls were emphasised by winding small sections of hair around an iron, before roots were massaged with fingertips to create separation, texture and volume in one.
