Modern Athleticism at Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2018

Athleisure is in for SS18. But, before you start pulling on the lycra leggings, take a look at Tommy Hilfiger’s fresh spin on sporty style and athletic hair. More motorsport chic than pilates pro, his TommyXGigi Milan Fashion Week show was all about teaming leather pants and cool crop tops with braided bombshell blowdries.

Created by Wella Professionals Global Creative Director & ghd Ambassador, Eugene Souleiman, the hair was the dream combo of quick to coif and completely carefree. “This is a very modern hairstyle,” he said. “It’s been done with haste but still appears styled but natural… It encompasses the Tommy lifestyle: young, fun and free but with a bit of an edge.”

Tommy may have been making his Milan debut with this see-now-buy-now collection, but his signature, all-American aesthetic was still palpable from head to toe. “[The] collection is inspired my love of motorsports,” he explained, “where speed and immediacy combine with a touch of vintage nostalgia… The look is strong and determined.”

Strong, determined and – if you ask us – the ultimate hairstyle for festival season, where braids and low-key glamour and the perfect pairing with your best boho glam outfit. Want in? Make like Gigi Hadid and wear this windswept style with iridescent silver eyeshadow, winged liner and glossy highlighter to take the look full-throttle…

1. To create this look, Eugene parted the hair in the centre and spritzed with a light mist of EIMI Ocean Spritz. This revved up the models’ natural hair texture before EIMI Sugar Lift was misted into the roots for volume.

2. Next, Eugene rolled the hair into two soft buns, diffused them with the ghd Air Hair Dryer, and left them to cool before gently unravelling. EIMI Dry Me was then massaged into the roots with fingertips.

3. By this point, the hair boasted a tousled wave. To encourage more movement, Eugene wrapped random sections of hair around the ghd Soft Curl Tong, then gently stretched the curls to tease them into a loose ‘S’ shape.

4. Finally, micro plaits were braided into the lower layers, peeking out with every swish of the hair as Gigi and co. sauntered down the Italian runway.

And that’s Tommy hair in four easy steps. We can’t wait to start wearing these breezy waves and braids the second spring arrives. On your marks, get set, go…
